U.S. Men’s and Women’s Freestyle Teams Secure Gold Medals in Panama City
The U15 Pan American Championships in Panama City witnessed an outstanding performance from Team USA on Friday. The U.S. men’s freestyle team showcased their dominance by winning the team title in all 10 weight classes, while the U.S. women’s freestyle team secured gold medals in all five weight classes contested. The outstanding wrestler in men’s freestyle, Cooper Rowe, was awarded the prestigious Golden Boot for his remarkable performance in the 68 kg category.
Men’s Freestyle Champions Display Exceptional Skill
Chase Karenbauer (38 kg), Keegan Bassett (41 kg), Christopher Grossman (52 kg), Austin Collins (57 kg), Travis Cardenas (62 kg), Cooper Rowe (68 kg), Isai Fernandez (76 kg), and Evan Perez (85 kg) emerged as champions in their respective weight classes. Rocco Cassioppi (48 kg) clinched a silver medal, while Eli Herring (44 kg) secured a bronze medal. The United States topped the men’s freestyle team standings, followed by Puerto Rico.
Women’s Freestyle Team Shines Bright
The women’s freestyle tournament featured the first five weight classes on Friday, with the remaining five scheduled for Saturday. Team USA displayed their dominance by sweeping all five weights contested. Maise Elliott (33 kg), Gail Sullivan (39 kg), Epenesa Elison (46 kg), Kaylyn Harrill (54 kg), and Taina Fernandez (62 kg) all secured gold medals for their exceptional performances.
Greco-Roman Competition and Final Women’s Freestyle Weights Await
On Saturday, the men will compete in the Greco-Roman category. All the athletes who wrestled in freestyle will also participate in Greco-Roman for Team USA. The final five weight classes in women’s freestyle, including 36 kg, 42 kg, 50 kg, 58 kg, and 66 kg, will be held on Saturday as well.
